IFAKARA CHILDREN HEALING HANDS

Preventing Mother to Child HIV Transmission

About Us

Who Are We?

IFAKARA CHILDREN HEALING HANDS (ICHH) is a registered non-governmental organization headquartered in Ifakara, Tanzania. The organization works relentlessly to improve the lives of children, with a strong focus on preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV. We are registered under the Non-Governmental Organization Act, 2002, Registration No. 12NGO/R/8223.

In Ifakara, Morogoro Region, Tanzania, the HIV prevalence rate among adults aged 15–49 stands at 4.6%, with women experiencing higher infection rates than men (IHI, Tanzania). This disparity presents significant challenges in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Despite notable advancements, gaps in consistent implementation of prevention strategies continue to result in avoidable new HIV infections among infants.

In response to these challenges, IFAKARA CHILDREN HEALING HANDS is committed to reducing mother-to-child HIV transmission in Ifakara by enhancing community awareness, improving access to quality healthcare, and supporting the consistent implementation of national prevention guidelines.

Our vision is to eliminate mother-to-child HIV transmission by ensuring that all children are born free from HIV, while empowering mothers through education, quality care, and accessible healthcare services.
